Johannesburg- The City of Gold- Inner city

eGoli…..Jozi….Johannesburg. The different names for the second largest city in Africa gives an idea of the melting pot of cultures it is. From Soweto and Hilbrow to Houghton and Roodepoort this really is a remarkable place. Some people hate this city and others love it. No matter what side of the fence you are you must admit that this really is a one of a kind experience. I use the word experience because around every corner there is a new experience.  My family and I went on the Red Bus Tour a while ago and it was really enjoyable. My sister in law  is American and it was great to see South Africa through her eyes. They also have a blog you can find it here.

The older buildings is more formal with colourful signs giving them a real african feel.  The inner city has great examples of  Art Nouveau to post-modern buildings.
